There's A Feud A'Brewin
As many of you know CollegeHumor also owns and operates BustedTees, a funny t-shirt retailer. I myself am responsible for a few. But, as I’m sure you are also aware, BT has plenty of competition from other T-shirt companies. One of them in particular, SnorgTees.com, has followed the BustedTees model very closely. And when I say ‘model,’ I’m not just talking the business kind, I’m talking about the kind with legs, boobs and a willingness to forever get creepy emails from old men.
Being that I spend most of my time on CollegeHumor I tend to see a lot of BustedTee ads. A lot of those feature my friend Erica, who I’ve worked with on a bunch of stuff (CHTV, Weekend Features, a Gawker Walker peice, etc) . I also see a lot of SnorgTee ads since they advertise on our site. Erica is the de rigeur model we’re using in our ads right now and Snorg, as I will be calling it from now on, has their own model-of-choice. In the long hours spent programming links my mind often wanders to a place where Erica and Other Girl are bitter rivals, competing for Internet T-shirt model honors. They are like Britney and Christina, Biggie and TuPac, Zoolander and Hansel and they each have a devoted group of fans who refuse to acknowledge the other is anything but a talentless hack. In reality of course I’m sure Erica and Other Girl will never meet and if they did they’d probably get along. But that doesn’t stop me from imagining. Try it, it’s fun.
It seems that Erica is more of a closed mouth smiler while Other Girl is from the school of ‘I’m mid-laugh’ modeling. What do you think? Who would win in a battle of the online T-shirt models?
